Romantic Business at City Hall

Valentine's Day was coming up quickly and I wanted to make certain we were going to capture a reservation from one of our "listed" restaurants. Fortunately, I was able to make reservations for City Hall Steakhouse and Seafood in Jenks. From the time I confirmed our reservations for the evening of Valentine's Day I was extremely excited. Scanning the menu online, I was certain I was going to enjoy my evening, but a bit uncertain as to how Cindy was going to navigate the cuisine.
The City Hall Steakhouse and Seafood (City Hall) is positioned right on the corner in "old downtown" Jenks, Oklahoma. As you walk in, you notice the smaller size of the restaurant, decorated in a bit of a mixed theme between a New York Steakhouse and Chicago Speakeasy. We are shown to our table which was small and a bit tight. We pursued the menu and ended up with a couple of our favorite cocktails. Cindy has a Johnny Walker Blue, neat with one cube and I had a smoked Old Fashioned with Basil Hayden Rye. The drinks were both good and well constructed for both spirits and flavor.

We decided to go for the smoked steak tartare and the thick-cut belly bacon. I loved the steak tartare, it was served room temperature with the raw egg already incorporated. The smoking process gave it a great added flavor and dimension I had not had before. The thick-cut bacon was good. The sauce fell a little flat, but it was definitely a nice change from the tartare. If you have ever dined at Bull in the Alley in downtown Tulsa, this starter is similar, but I think the Bull has City Hall by the horns.
In between starters and our entrees, I ordered the wedge salad. I am always a sucker for an old school wedge salad (or a made at the table Caesar Salad ala Celebrity Club - RIP). The wedge was crisp and cold, the tomatoes ripe and the blue cheese creamy and just funky enough.
On to the main event. Cindy ordered a classic filet mignon and I ordered the dry aged ribeye

with grilled shrimp. By this point, we had struck up a conversation with the couple dining merely nine inches from us, so the focus was hard to hold. As professionals, we pushed through. My steak was cooked perfectly and shrimp was nice. I will say, the flavor of the steak was good, but not the best steak I have ever had. Same with the shrimp, technically almost perfect, taste-wise just a little less than I was hoping. Cindy's steak was cooked as requested too. We both ended up boxing our steaks for next day breakfast. For sides we ordered the creamed spinich as well as the au gratin potatoes. Both were solid choices and I would choose the spinich again.
Finally, we couldn't pass up dessert! We chose the strawberry ice cream cake. Now, I have always heard people joke and say, "Life is short, eat dessert first." I wouldn't care if I could live forever, I would order this cake ten thousand times over and start every meal with it! Of course, the presentation was dramatic and the sheer massive size is stunning. We felt like we could easily...and I mean easily cut this thing in fourths or even sixths and share it! That being said, we cut two pieces from the mammoth mound of strawberry ice cream ladened cake with refreshing dried strawberries and fresh cream on top. This was something you don't want to sleep on...AT ALL!

Ok, so what was the damage. It was Valentine's dinner and we knew this was a treat. The dinner and tip was right around $465.00. We had exceptional service and tipped around 25 percent. If you are like we are, a meal is an experience and one can not do this all of the time, however, will we remember this meal for years to come, absolutely!
