MY RELATIONSHIP STATUS WITH FOOD? IT'S COMPLICATED!

Food, we all have to have it. Whether you enjoy it alone or at a party gathering; a restaurateur, home chef or microwave warrior, we all have to have food (and water) to survive.

My complicated relationship with food began very early in my life. It was quickly taught through my environment, specifically my mother, that food was not just for sustenance, but it was a celebration. For the most part, not unhealthy unless each and every meal was a celebration. Celebrations turn into more and they began to become the overarching theme of my life. Whether that was about personal weight gain and loss, over indulgence beyond the family's means to "show off" or simply additional time spent on traditions and customs to which no one else adhered.

Over the past 50 years, I have tried to take the best of my food beginnings and enjoy it for what it can be, not what it was shown to me to be. The good news, I still love food. I love food of all cultures and from varying styles.

As the Flyover Foodie, I am tasking myself to eat more diligently and share my experiences of dining, travel and preparation with those who might enjoy it. I invite you to join me at dining tables, kitchens, bars, bistros and patios along our adventure to share our thoughts, opinions and joys our culinary journey with you!
