Lucy's Cafe: Classic Diner Feel.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE Breakfast! More specifically, I love breakfast foods! A couple of weeks ago, the local television stations were warning of imminent doom and disaster about to befall my home state of Oklahoma, I thought the best thing to do the day of would be to order a GIANT AMOUNT of food - yes, it is breakfast time at Lucy's Cafe!

This was not my first time walking into Lucy's Cafe. The one-time Sonic Drive-in has been
revamped into a bit of an "old school diner" feel. Seating is tight, but you get to choose your own upon entering. I choose a nice spot out of the way next to one of the large windows. Honestly, we normally have great service at Lucy's, but this time, I was overlooked for two other tables. Another server picked me up after she watched me being passed over twice. Good move on her part to have the understanding and motivation to grab me as an extra.

I ordered the Lucy's Classic Breakfast, adding a side of bacon and a bowl of grits. Service was quick on the mains and biscuits and gray. It took a little time to get the grits, but all was served warm. The eggs were seasoned well and the sausage was cooked exactly how I like it with crispy edges. The hash browns were cooked as they should be. The gravy was surprisingly good and the biscuit moist. The bacon was crisp and I ended up making one of my favorite concoctions, placing egg, hash browns, sausage on a biscuit half and pouring gravy on top of it all - finally, breaking the bacon into small pieces and littering it above the already gloppy mess. DELISH!
Now, let's talk grits for a moment. Grits can be controversial, so I get it. I like my grits with a

little butter and sugar or honey. For dinner I like them with shrimp, but I never eat them with cheese. That being said, I like my grits to be smooth (different from my oatmeal which I enjoy lumpy, but I know that is not the norm). The grits were lumpy and solid like concrete. I added butter and water to them to get them out of the tightened state they were served. Yes, I did try them before the rest of the meal, so time didn't have a toll on the grit status. They needed a little love.
Overall, if you and your family are looking for an affordable, solid option to have breakfast or lunch, I would suggest Lucy's Cafe. My entire meal, along with tip was around $16, which is good for such a large amount of food!
